At the State level, control various types of cruelty inflicted upon animals, particularly cruelty during transportation. Ensure compliance with slaughterhouse rules. Promote and provide financial assistance for arrangements such as Panjarapoles, animal shelters and sanctuaries, coordinate various animal welfare organizations, and undertake noble animal welfare activities such as creating awareness among school and college students regarding the rules for prevention of cruelty to animals. For this purpose, the Gujarat Government has reconstituted the Gujarat Animal Welfare Board vide Resolution No.: AHA/102013/3117/P.1 dated: 30/11/2013.
At the District level, the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) shall prepare guidelines for animal welfare activities, control various types of cruelty inflicted upon animals, particularly cruelty during transportation, supervise various organizations engaged in animal welfare activities in the district, and undertake various activities such as creating awareness among the general public regarding the rules for prevention of cruelty to animals. To ensure animal protection and control of cruelty, the Government has issued Notification No. GHKH-94-2014-GVS-12011-3564-P.1 dated 05/11/2014 regarding the constitution of District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in all districts of Gujarat State. Accordingly, out of the 34 districts of the State, District Societies for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCAs) have been constituted in 33 districts, except for the newly created Vav-Tharad district.
